What is a Catalyst?

A person or leader who ignites action in others.

Catalyst leaders are high energy, supportive, forward thinking mentors; whose talk, enthusiasm or energy causes others to be more friendly, enthusiastic, energetic and strategic.

LEADERSHIP / PULPIT CATALYST

Engage and hold leadership accountable for preaching, teaching, training, instructing and inspiring the Church in missions.

Facilitate regular value sharing sessions with regard to mission plans and strategies, among other departments in the local church / region / denomination.

Facilitate appropriate training to equip leaders and church membership for the work of missions

Identify deficiencies in leadership that impact the mission focus of the church / region / denomination. Provide suggestions / action plans / resources in address these deficiencies.

PRAYER CATALYST

Compile, update and circulate a prayer digest for the church / region / denomination

Promote intentional and focused prayer strategies for the church / region / denomination

COMMUNITY / LOCAL MISSIONS CATALYST

Identify opportunities within communities and suggest strategies for involvement

Facilitate networks among church / region / denominational ministries for maximum impact (effective & efficient)

Identify missionaries for either short-term or full-time service

Provide constant encouragement and inspiration that keeps the church / region / denomination relevant in the communities where they exist.

Specific and intentional to the South African context (with emphasis on reaching the unreached and unengaged)

GLOBAL CATALYST

Identify opportunities around the world and suggest strategies for involvement.

Facilitate networks among church / region / denominational ministries for maximum impact (effective & efficient)

Provide constant encouragement and inspiration that keeps the church / region / denomination focused and active in global trends / challenges / activities.

Develop partnerships with mission agencies and other like-minded churches.

Identify missionaries for either short-term or full-time service

Specific and intentional to the global / international / cross cultural context (with emphasis on reaching the unreached and unengaged)

MOBILISATION CATALYST

Identifies and facilitates missions trips and activities via its various ministries i.e. Ladies (Sofia), youth (Timothy project), children (power warriors for Christ), men (knights on mission)

Mobilises local church / region / denomination to meet identified needs eg. Feeding schemes, winter blanket drives, training camps, disaster / crisis relief
